Privacy policy

Effective October 29, 2026. This policy applies to the Playtime of the Dead app for iPhone.

It's the same policy the game links to and its App Store listing names, also published at apps.kingofthehour.com/infinityzombie/privacy.

This policy covers Playtime of the Dead, a free game for iPhone published by King Of The Hour, LLC (“we”), bundle identifier com.kingofthehour.games.infinityzombie.

Summary

  • There is no account or login. We don't run servers that receive information from the game, and the game has no analytics or crash reporting of its own.
  • Your settings, progress, a log of how your runs ended and your age answer are stored on your iPhone. The game doesn't send them to us or to anyone else.
  • The game is free and supported by optional rewarded ads from LevelPlay, Unity's ad platform, which uses the ironSource Ads and Google AdMob networks. Their software in the game collects device and advertising information, described below.
  • Before any ad, consent or tracking tool starts, the game asks your age. Players under 16 get non-personalized ads and are never asked for tracking permission. Players under 13 are also flagged as children under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
  • Only players 16 and over are asked for Apple's tracking permission, and saying no doesn't change the game.

Information stored on your iPhone

  • Settings: controls and aiming options (including aim assist), look and aim sensitivity, field of view, left-handed layout, music and effects volume, subtitle size, sound captions, reduced motion and flashing, camera shake, bite damage, narrator chatter, battery saver and vibration.
  • Progress: the best wave reached in each playset, the rooms you've unlocked as starting places, the playset and room you chose last, and which cutscenes you've already seen.
  • Run log: one line each time a run ends, with the date and time, the app version, the playset, the graphics level, the wave reached, how long the run lasted and how it ended (what got you, and whether the run had been revived), plus which of two hit-effect styles this install plays with. We read run logs only on our own test iPhones, to tune the game; yours never leaves your iPhone.
  • Your age answer: if you answer the age question, the month and year you enter are stored in the iOS Keychain on this iPhone only (not in iCloud Keychain or on your other devices).

The game doesn't send any of this to us or to the ad networks. iOS may include it in your device backups. Deleting the game removes its settings, progress and run log. iOS may keep the Keychain age answer after the game is deleted, so reinstalling won't ask again; erasing the iPhone removes it.

The game doesn't ask for access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location, and it has no chat, player profiles or way to post content.

The age question

Before any ad, consent or tracking tool starts, the game works out an age group. It first asks Apple for your age range (Apple's Declared Age Range). Apple shares it only as your Apple Account settings and local law allow, and only as a range, never your birth date. If Apple doesn't share a range, the game asks for the month and year you were born. The question starts blank and doesn't suggest an age, and the whole game is the same at every age.

The age group is worked out again at every launch. The game never sends your birth month and year, or the range Apple shares, off your iPhone: the ad networks receive only the privacy settings that follow from your age group, described below.

Ads

Playtime of the Dead shows rewarded ads only when you tap to watch one, for example to revive once in a run. Declining never blocks the game. Ads are delivered by LevelPlay, the ad mediation platform of Unity Technologies, which picks for each ad between Unity's ironSource Ads network and Google AdMob. If we add other ad networks, we'll update this page.

Once the ad software starts (after the age question), LevelPlay, the ad networks and their partners may collect:

  • your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (such as city or region);
  • device identifiers, such as identifiers limited to this app or its publisher and, only if you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier;
  • information about your device and the game, such as the device model, iOS version and app version;
  • the ads you're shown and how you interact with them, such as views, taps and rewards, and basic activity in the game, such as when it's opened;
  • performance, crash and other diagnostic information about the ad software.

They use it to select, deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, check ad quality, prevent fraud and improve their services, and, only where your age, your choices and the law allow, to personalize ads. We use only these services' aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown and what they earned. Unity and Google process this information under their own privacy policies, linked below, and may process it in the United States and other countries.

Apple's tracking permission

Only players 16 and over are asked. The game first shows a short explanation, then Apple's prompt. If you allow tracking, the ad networks can use your device's advertising identifier to personalize and measure ads based on your activity in other companies' apps and websites. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, or tracking is turned off or restricted on your iPhone, the advertising identifier isn't available to the game or the ad networks, and the game works the same. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you're 16 or over and in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) asks for your choices before any ad is requested, on behalf of Google and the ad partners it lists. Your choices are stored on your iPhone and passed to the ad networks. Ads are personalized only if you agree. If you don't, you get non-personalized ads, which still use some information, for example to limit repeats, measure ads and prevent fraud. You can review or change your choices at any time from Privacy choices in the game's Settings. Players under 16 there don't see the form, and the game tells the ad networks not to personalize their ads.

The ad partners rely on your consent for personalized ads and, for some other processing, on their legitimate interests, as the form explains. You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. We hold no personal information about players apart from emails they send us, which we process in our legitimate interest in answering them. For information held by Unity or Google, contact them directly or ask us for help.

US state privacy rights

Depending on the state you live in (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas or Virginia), you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you; to access, correct or delete it; to opt out of its sale, of its sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising and of targeted advertising; and not to be treated differently for using these rights.

We don't sell personal information for money, and we hold none about players apart from emails they send us. The ad partners' use of device identifiers and IP addresses for targeted advertising may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under some of these laws. To opt out:

  • Players under 16 are always opted out: before any ad loads, the game tells LevelPlay that their personal information must not be sold or shared, and it never asks them for tracking.
  • If you're 16 or over, choose Ask App Not to Track or turn tracking off for the game in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and use Privacy choices in the game's Settings to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • You can also email us. We'll answer within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time where the law allows, and help you apply your choice on your iPhone and with Unity or Google. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. An authorized agent can make a request for you where the law allows.

Children

Playtime of the Dead is rated 13+ on the App Store and is made for teens and adults; it isn't in the App Store's Kids category. Because younger players may still play, the game asks every player's age before any ad, consent or tracking tool starts, and protects younger players further:

  • Under 13: before any ad is requested, the game tells LevelPlay and its ad networks that the player is a child under COPPA. This tells them to use device information, such as the IP address and identifiers limited to this app or its publisher, only for the internal operations COPPA allows: showing contextual ads (chosen from the game being played, not from the player's behavior), limiting how often ads appear, preventing fraud and keeping the ads working, and not for behavioral or personalized advertising or to build profiles. ironSource doesn't share these players' persistent identifiers with outside ad bidders.
  • 13 to 15: non-personalized ads and an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Under 16: the game never asks for tracking permission and doesn't show the consent form.

We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 ourselves: the game has no accounts, chat or way to share personal information, and it sends us nothing. If a child under 13 emails us, we use the email only to reply once and then delete it. Parents: deleting the game stops all collection by the game and its ad software. Because we receive no information about players, we have nothing about your child to review or delete; if you think your child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it. You can also ask Unity and Google about information their services hold.

Services and their privacy policies

Support, retention and security

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and use them only to reply and to look into ad reports. Report an ad in the game opens an email to us in your mail app, already filled in with the app version and build, your iOS version and, if an ad was shown since the game started, that ad's network and identifiers (ad unit, instance, creative and auction); nothing is sent unless you send it, and you can edit it first. We keep these emails only as long as we need them to help you and to meet legal obligations, and you can ask us to delete them. Information stored on your iPhone stays there until you delete it as described above; Unity and Google keep the information they hold under their own policies.

The age answer is kept in the iOS Keychain, which iOS encrypts. No system is perfectly secure. This website is hosted separately from the game; its pages set no cookies and run no analytics, and the hosting provider may process ordinary request logs to deliver and secure the site.
